Trip to New Orleans August 2010 08/18/2010
Lisa and I went to New Orleans for the Louisiana Food Association Trade Show. It was a great show. We brought home lots of samples and new ideas, and met lots of great people from Tony Chachere, Zatarains and Zing Zang. Hey - we even got to meet Chef Paul Prudhomme! We were also very interested to hear the panel assembled to speak in regard to the state of the seafood industry. One thing we got loud and clear ... Louisiana seafood is safe. Probably safer that it has ever been. What a committed, passionate group of people. The panel consisted of experts of Louisiana Fishieries Association, LSU, NOAA, FDA, EPA. You name it. We stayed at The Monteleone hotel and even caught the Satchmo Music Festival. We enjoyed brunch at the Court of Two Sisters, had a great meal at Port of Call and enjoyed a dinner out with old friends at R& O's on the Lakefront. I am happy to report that we saw some new activity in the form of repairs/rebuilding in the area still devasted by Hurricane Katrina. This was the first time in a long time that Lisa and I were in New Orleans by ourselves, had a few days to just relax and truly enjoy. We filled up on some great food (of course) great music (spent some time in the Frenchman Street area), soaked up the history and architecture and took some great photos. Where else but New Orleans would you just happen upon a parade going to Bourbon Street on a Monday night. Yep, it was the kickoff of the new Maddon NFL video game that features the Saints. Complete with floats, beads and bands. Woohoo Go Saints! CommentsLaura G. Ferreira 09/22/2010 04:31

Hi! I was just wondering, are you going to have a food booth at the Blues Fest this Sunday in St.Pete? We will be coming that day. We are big Tab Benoit fans and have seen him play aobut 5 times. Have met him twice at Skippers in Tampa. We are going to the NOLA Jazz & Heritage Fest in late April; went last yr. too, 1st time for the fest. But have been to N.O. 7 or 8 times. Once for Mardi Gras in '07, and we were there only 24 hours before Katrina hit. We ate at Mothers last yr. I see you have the Ferdi on your menu. I had that last yr. Love Muffalettas too, and think the best are at Central Grocery on Decatur St., and then the Napolean House after that. Anyway, we want to try your food and were hoping you would have a food booth this weekend at the Blues Fest. If not,we will try your restaurant soon. Sheilah RIC WEIMER 02/29/2012 14:06

Best of luck for the bistro. Born and raised in New Orleans ourselves, we really do miss the food. Who doesn't love those mudbugs or a good sloppy roast beef poboy. (BTW, remember the good old places in New Orleans - Makin' Groceries at Schwegmann's and all the goodies from McKenzie's Bakery; oh and let's not forget Morgus.) For sure, we will be visiting you soon. LSP 03/11/2012 10:27
Congratulations, Ricky! We ate at the Bistro last night for the 1st time..will not be our last. We are New Orleans natives and will say that your gumbo is the best we've ever had. the soft shell and catfish po-boys were delicious and authentic...good or better than the best ole seafood restaurants at West End (those that existed before Katrina)!
